PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY IN TORONTO
WHAT IS PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Psychodynamic therapy is a therapeutic approach that helps clients explore and understand their emotions and actions, including unconscious thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Psychodynamic therapy examines how past experiences can impact daily life and current struggles. Together, we will explore childhood, family patterns, significant experiences and other factors that have affected you, and how you view and interact with the world. You’ll understand what, why and how certain situations and individuals trigger you. We will also examine the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours that are no longer working for you, as often, these thoughts and beliefs are based on past scripts, rather than from the perspective and understand of your current grown up self. Being stuck in old scripts can lead to repeatedly playing out old patterns that no longer serve you and may have become problematic. We will explore sources of old wounds and the causes of inner conflict. Understanding these dynamics provides deeper clarity about thoughts, behaviours, and emotions.
By looking at patterns and experiences that have shaped the way you think and feel, you can gain insight into what drives you. This process can be very liberating and can help you become more self-aware and conscious in everyday life, thus making it easier to make the changes you’re wanting to make. Being more conscious and self-aware bring upon healing and make it easier to make the changes you’re wanting to make.

THE PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY RELATIONSHIP
I create a safe place for you to start your exploration journey. My relationship with you is central to our work. I believe that the client-therapist relationship plays a fundamental role in the therapeutic process and successful outcome.
To get the most out of counselling, it’s helpful for you to maintain momentum in your sessions. With regularly set sessions, we can usually make progress faster than when our sessions are spread apart. In my experience, weekly sessions are most productive. Some people feel that bi-weekly works for them. I like to honor and meet my clients where they are at.
